The Week Long Cabbage Soup Diet
A cabbage soup diet is fascinating in that it lasts a week, but during that time dieters will drastically reduce their caloric intake by almost a half and lose an average of 10 pounds. As one can tell by the name, the principle food is cabbage soup and someone utilizing the diet will consume up to two bowls of it each day. Some foods, such as bread, alcohol and soft drinks are not allowed.
The cabbage soup diet plan calls for a certain menu each day. On the first day, dieters are allowed cabbage soup and fruits. An exception is bananas which are not allowed. The second day calls for cabbage soup again along with other vegetables and a baked potato with butter as a treat. The third day is similar to the first. On the fourth day, bananas and unlimited amounts of skim milk accompany the soup. The fifth day sees soup, a vegetable in the form of tomatoes and a full meat portion. The meat can be beef, chicken or fish. The next to last day’s menu is cabbage soup, vegetables and meat. On the last day the dieter eats the soup, vegetables and brown rice with fruit juices to drink.
One of the main drawbacks to the cabbage soup diet is that it may get boring if one doesn’t plan menus ahead with vegetables and a creative cabbage soup diet recipe for each day. There are groups and sites on the internet that can help with plans and recipes. Still, it is a fast and proven weight loss plan.
